In this project we worked in groups or alone to teach kids about different science topics. Each person or group chose a topic to teach, curated a lesson, presented to the class, and then held a science fair for third graders. We not only became experts in our chosen topic, we also learned leadership skills and how to plan and execute a lesson.
My Science Concept
The concept I taught my kids about was optical illusions. I taught them about what optical illusions are, how they work, and why we believe in them. I chose this topic because I thought that it would be a cool and engaging thing to see and learn about. You see optical illusions from a young age and we don't often know why they work so I thought it would be interesting to teach the kids about how the mind is tricked and deceived.
