In this project, we worked in groups with students at the Monarch School located in Barrio Logan. The Monarch school is a school specifically designed for kids affected with homelessness and helps them by tailoring to their more specific needs. With our 1st grade buddy, we worked with them to create a nightlight based on their personality and interests. As a suprise addition, we also wrote them storybooks that were also tailored to them. In this project we learned about homelessness, sensory details in writing, all about electrical components, how to sodder, and how to use inkscpae, a program that allows you to laser cut your designs. To me however, the most important thing we learned was compassion and how to help others that may not be as fortunate as you are.
