Critique is always a crucial part of writing, but I had a different experience in critiquing these stories. Not only was I very hesitant in allowing anyone to read my story, I didn’t want them to tell me how to write my life. I felt the same thing working on other’s stories. These were extremely personal stories, who I am to tell them they’re writing it wrong. However, as we began the process, it just made me come closer to my classmates. Everyone gave honest critique in a way that didn’t overstep any boundaries. The critique allowed me to step back from the emotions I felt towards the story and see what it needed without being clouded by bias.
